Comments: Hi, I wasn't on board the Gurke, but stationed aboard the Gurke's sister ship USS Rowan DD-782, and was part of Desron 15. We were part of the first extended deployment move to Yokosuka Japan and spent a lot of steaming time with the Gurke in WEST-PAC. Years aboard Gurke: Served aboard the USS Hanson DD-832 but we sailed with the Gurke in February 1971 on the way to Vietnam.
Comments: Your web page is quite nice. I took some photos of the Gurke in February of 1971. If you are interested I will be more than happy to send you gifs of the ship as it appeared in Feb. of 1971 during transfer of personnel that occured somewhere between Hawaii and Vietnam.
