Comments: BT-3 /BT-2 B Division WHILE ON BOARD I SERVED IN THE FOWARD FIREROOM. WHEN I ADVANCED TO BT-2 I WENT TO THE AFTER FIREROOM. ALSO WORKED AS OIL AND WATER KING. ENJOYED WORKING WITH ALL HANDS WHILE ON BOARD. I RETIRED FROM THE NAVY 9-3-74. I AM NOW RETIRED FROM THE WORK FORCE.

OF ALL PEOPLE KEN BRIAR STARTING FROM ET SCHOOL IN SAN FRANCISCO TO SHIPMATES ON GURKE. BOB NEAVES, MR. BLATCHLEY, CAPTAIN WILSON, XO BABCOCK, ED ZEIGLER AND OTHER NAMES I'M STILL TRYING TO PUT A FACE ON. DOES ANYONE REMEMBER THE DAY WE RAN AGROUND IN THE FOG OFF POINT LOMA? Comments: My husband Thomas J. Brown was an OSC...He passed away in May of 1998 and was buried at sea one day out of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii...The service was conducted aboard his sons ship the USS McKee who herself is on her way to be decommissioned in VA....Tom had very fond memories of the USS Gurke...Thank you for letting me still be a part of her crew....Jackie Brown a PROUD NAVY WIFE
