Comments: Hello, I just want 2 say that whenever I think about my tour on the Gurke I break out into a big smile! As an 18 year old it was a great adventure and experience. I often think about the old port calls and how we bonded. Remember taking the cup and leaving Japan with the broom hanging. Life has been good 2 me and my days aboard the Gurke was a tour in which some could only wish for. Doc, Larry, Roscoe, Mason, Hicks, Horton where r u guys????? and 2 the CIC Crew (all 6 of us) as Chief Brown would say "listen up u dopers". I left the Gurke and was sent 2 USS Chicago but the Gurke is what I still consider home!! Peace! Warren

Comments: I was ships Master At Arms for about a year and after that I worked on the 40 Millimeter Guns. I stood lots of Quarter Deck watches. I was mount captian in mount 52 5 in. gun mount. I was transfered for discharge Feb. 1956. I would like to get in touch with Donald Jurkovich who lived in Washington Pa. in the 1950's. It would be great to see my other ship mates also.
