Comments: Saw the cruise book for 1967-1968 WestPac cruise by Schlictig and Reeder and it directed me here. The cruise book was marvelous. I had just found the history of the Gurke from launch up to the summer before that cruise and was searching for more but never expected the bonanza I was given. Seeing the names and pictures of so many shipmates brought back both memories and a lump in my throat.

Comments: I am from the USS Duncan DDR-874. My plans were to come to San Antonio to visit with you for a little bit during your reunion. However, my daughter is going in the hospital for major neck surgery at noon tomorrow. She was involved in an automobile wreck and she has started to develop severe problems and the Doc. says she has to be operated on now. I would love to visit, however I love my daughter and have to be here for her. I know you understand. Maybe I can visit with one of you after it is over. Thanks, Richard

Comments: I served aboard the USS Henderson DD-785 from 1951 through 1954. Was RM2 upon discharge.... Since the Gurke and Henderson as well as the Southerland and Rowan shared the Pacific and Far East during those years and probably beyond, I feel a real connection. I wish my memory bank could retrieve a name from your Operations gang for me. At least I apppreciate your beautiful site and wish you the best for the future.
