Comments: I served aboard Gurke a couple of years prior to her departure from homeport San Diego to Japan and at least two year there. I was in the Sonar gang and departed Gurke as STG1. Trying to re-cover information such as this, but, when requesting a copy of my DD214, was informed that my records are unreadable, therefore, unable to get copies. Anyway, I retired from the Navy in July 1978 after twenty years service and settled in San Diego, California. I do receive PEPCO and please note the change in my e-mail address. If Gurke information from "her" records are available and can be accessed, please forward that information to me. I do not recognize any former crewmembers names thus far, maybe, someone will remember me. Until next correspondence, this is Jim Frederick.
