Date: 21 April 1997
Name: Lt. M. L. (Bill) Cooper
Where are you from?: Dallas, Texas
Years aboard Gurke: 1951-1953
Comments: Reported aboard the Gurke in November 1951 just prior to the ship's return to WestPac. Served in Operations involving CIC and Radio. This was quite a learning experience for me as I was quite "green" in being on a destroyer. Enjoyed working with my new shipmates and left the ship in March of 1953 with a lot more confidence in being a "tin-can" sailor.I have kept up with several fellows who served with me and hope to be able to make the next reunion in Kansas City this year and renew old acquaintances.

Comments: I would like to get the address of George Busby. When we went into Inchon, I was telephone talker in the midships repair party. George sat where I usually did and wound up being wounded. I have never forgotten that and would like to get in touch with him. I didn't make the reunion this trip, due to a health problem and wonder if it came up there. Hopefully We will make the next one. Best regards. Don Pollock

Date: 13 April 1997
Name: Eugene R. Gregorowicz
Where are you from?: Dearborn Heights, MI
Years aboard Gurke: August 1950-January 1952
Comments: I was an EM3 and my GQ station was located at the after diesel emergency generator during my time on the Gurke. We were one of "“sitting ducks", and remember all the holes in the captain’s gig after the bombardment by the Korean shore batteries. I also spent 18 month on Guam working in X51 electrical department, rewinding motors, drinking beer and paying softball for the Industrial department team. I’m looking forward to hearing from any of my old shipmates. Good Luck.
